 Description 
 
 The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Performance & Visual Studies, beginning in Fall 2026.
The Visual, Material & Performance Cultures Section seeks candidates whose research and teaching focus broadly on performance and/or visual studies .
We are interested in candidates whose research and teaching engage in performance and/or visual studies through perspectives such as environmental humanities, Global South studies, new media , critical data and Artificial Intelligence studies, and science and technology studies .
We especially welcome scholars whose work bridges technology with visual and performance cultures, a s well as those who can promote interdisciplinary collaborations across the arts, humanities, and sciences.
  
 
 
 
 Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in the B.A. in Performance & Visual Studies and the M.A. in Performance Studies programs.
These courses may include Introduction to Performance Studies, Introduction to Visual Studies, Research Methods, and upper-level or graduate seminars aligned with the candidate’s area of expertise.
Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching can enhance innovative curricula within PVFA’s interdisciplinary setting .
  
 
 
 
 Along with teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, mentor student s , participate in service at the section, school, and university levels, and help build PVFA’s reputation as a national leader in interdisciplinary creative and scholarly inquiry.
Our programs focus on music, theater, visual cultures, and media within a framework that emphasize s research and creative work in the arts to explor e and critically engag e with the world.
  
 
 
 
 The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts is an energetic and growing academic unit with over 100 faculty and staff members.
Created from three existing programs: Visualization, Performance Studies, and Dance Science.
 T he College integrates artistic creation, scholarly research, and technological innovation.

 Qualifications 
 A completed Ph.D. in Performance Studies, Visual Studies, Film & Media Studies, Digital Media Studies, or a related field.
 
 Candidates who have completed all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation (ABD) will be considered, provided they demonstrate clear progress toward completion.
